Perpetual care of Lake Forest Cemetery's 80-acre, park-like environs is assigned to three full-time staff and a part time administrative aide. The summer work force is supplemented by a SWAP crew and two summer seasonal employees. Massive spring clean-up efforts are followed by non-stop summer mowing, trimming, and irrigation system operation and maintenance. In the fall, staff is busy with raking and leaf pick-up. In addition to the routine duties, each year a few trees fall and have to be removed, the roads have to be repaired and broken water lines replaced. In the office, staff is tasked with the responsibility of maintaining accurate and detailed records related to burial rights purchases and interments.
They are mindful of the goal for environmentally friendly, cost effective ways to maintain the beauty of Lake Forest Cemetery.
