The City of Grand Haven is seeking a part time (20 hours per week) Custodian. The main duties of this position will include cleaning and maintaining offices, meeting rooms and public areas of all City buildings; set up, arrange and tear down furniture and audio-visual equipment for classes, meetings, and special events; stock and replace light bulbs and bathroom supplies; and report damaged or broken doors, windows, walls and equipment requiring involved repairs. The successful candidate will provide friendly, courteous and helpful communication when interacting with staff and the general public.
This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Previous custodial experience is preferred including knowledge of the practices and safety issues involved in cleaning public facilities. The successful candidate will have proven ability to work independently and complete assignments in a timely manner as well as experience in dealing with the public and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. An employee in this position must have the strength, stamina and physical coordination required to participate in heavy physical labor such as lifting extremely heavy items and walking for extended periods of time.
