Part-Time Accounts Payable Clerk

The City of Grand Haven is seeking a part time Accounts Payable Clerk in the Finance Department. This individual performs accounting, bookkeeping and clerical services in processing accounts payable for all City departments, funds and other entities as assigned. The successful candidate will track and record all purchase orders and invoices, review supporting documentation and provide assistance to other departments in regard to purchasing policies and required documentation. This individual will also provide back-up support to other functions in the Finance Department.

An Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least two years of accounting, business or other direct customer service experience is necessary to successfully manage the work load of this position. Ability to gather and analyze data for the purpose of preparing accurate and timely reports, particularly in spreadsheet format, is critical.

Part-Time Administrative Aide

The City of Grand Haven is seeking an part time (16 hours per week) Administrative Aide for the office of the Main Street Downtown Development Authority. This individual will perform basic secretarial and administrative duties. The successful applicant will assist the Director in serving customers in person and by phone, provide support through dissemination of information through postings, newspapers, facebook posts and twitter feeds. This is a highly independent position with latitude to use your personal skills. The successful candidate will work some evenings and weekends as MSDDA events require.

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience in an office setting that has direct public contact is necessary to successfully manage the work load of this position. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, adjust to changing priorities and manage constant interruptions is critical.

Seasonal Community Police Officer

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Seasonal Community Police Officer. This is a full time temporary summer position with the possibility of being a permanent part time road patrol position, beginning in the Fall of 2015.

Specific duties of this temporary position will include local ordinance enforcement, foot and ATV patrol of Grand Haven City Beach, bicycle and foot patrol of downtown Grand Haven, traffic control during special events and other law enforcement duties as required.

This position requires applicants to be licensed by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, or have the ability to be licensed by June 1, 2015. All applicants will undergo an extensive background investigation, physical agility test, and an interview board. Successful candidates will complete a water rescue technician course prior to beach duty.
