Mayor Roger Bergman established the monthly Lighthouse Award in January of 2004 to recognize those youth in the Grand Haven community who serve as positive role models to their peers. Like our Lake Michigan lighthouses, these individuals, through their actions, stand above troubled waters and offer directon to those who seek it.
Please take a moment to think about the youth in your school, parish, neighborhood, or workplace that stand out as positive examples for the young people of Grand Haven. They may be volunteers, they may help out at home, they may work to support the family, or they might exhibit other traits not often recognized by established recognition structures. The Lighthouse Award is intended to shine a deserving light on those accomplishments that are sometimes unheralded, but are always a big part of what makes our kids special.
Use this form to nominate someone special in Grand Haven. The award will be announced monthly and the recipient will be recognized at a formal meeting of the Grand Haven City Council. Each month's winner will have their name posted on an attractive plaque, proudly displayed in the lobby of the Grand Haven City Hall.
