GH/SL Sewer Authority – Environmental Compliance Supervisor

The Grand Haven/Spring Lake Sewer Authority is seeking an Environmental Compliance Supervisor for our Wastewater Treatment Plant. Under the general supervision of the Superintendent, the Environmental Compliance Supervisor performs work of considerable difficulty in planning, supervising, and inspecting the activities of the treatment plant laboratory, the Industrial Pretreatment Program, the Program for Effective Residuals Management, the operational functions of the wastewater treatment plant, and its related facilities.

The successful candidate will direct operator/mechanics in laboratory, plant operation, IPP, or land application duties. In addition, will coordinate and supervise the Program for Effective Residuals Management functions and supervises the preparation and submittal of all Federal National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (N.P.D.E.S.) required reports to the EPA and MDNR.

A Bachelors’ degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering or biology with several years of experience in the laboratory testing and analysis of wastewater treatment processes is preferred. Experience in overall plant operation is also desired. A State of Michigan Class B wastewater license is also required or the ability to obtain a Class B license within one year of employment. Knowledge of Federal and State regulations applicable to industrial waste; modern laboratory techniques, practices and procedures; and chemical and bacteriological tests as related to wastewater treatment, industrial waste and solid waste is necessary.

Harbor Transit – Part Time Dispatcher

The City of Grand Haven is seeking a Part time Dispatcher for the Harbor Transit Multi Modal Transportation System. The successful candidate will receive requests for services from the public; schedule and dispatch drivers to meet those requests; and serve as communications hub for the staff within the Harbor Transit location. Harbor Transit – Vehicle Custodian

Equipment Operator I

The City of Grand Haven is seeking an Equipment Operator I for a fulltime opening. Under supervision of the Utilities Crew Leader, this individual performs a variety of maintenance and repair throughout the City of Grand Haven including but not limited to:

Performs routine preventative maintenance and repairs to City water and sewer lines.
Diagnoses and solves leaks and water main breaks.
Installs City sewer lines and constructs man holes.
Assists with removal of snow from streets, sidewalks and parking lots as appropriate.

The successful candidate will also be required to assist in other areas of the Department of Public Works as the needs arise. In so doing, all aspects of the Equipment Operator I job description apply.

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required for this position. Ability to withstand heavy physical labor and stand for long periods of time. Ability to obtain a State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements within six months of employment is also required.

Clerk’s Office Administrative Aide

The City of Grand Haven is seeking a part time Administrative Aide for the office of the City Clerk. This individual will perform basic secretarial and administrative duties, assist the Clerk in record keeping and file management, process incoming and outgoing mail and answer the phone system for the Department. The 20 hour per week schedule is flexible with a preference of 10:00am – 2:00pm Monday through Friday.

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience in an office setting that has direct public contact is necessary to successfully manage the work load of this position. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, adjust to changing priorities and manage constant interruptions is also expected.
